I was wondering if it is safe to feed my Alexandrines/conure persimmons?
We have a lot growing down our driveway and nobody in my household likes to eat them.

Thanks :)

Unripe persimmons pucker your lips. I believe it's the alum. Ripe ones are squishy, and sweet as all get out, and great under cream.

This site says that only unripe persimmons are bad, but ripe is okay: fruitandveg

For the record, this is the first I've heard about persimmons. I fed some to Puck when ours were in season, and he was fine.

Wild birds and animals eat them which is usually a good sign.

Such an old post but still helpful! I gave my babies a piece, then took it away but I think I'll try it again. Just not going to give them any of the skin.
