Teaching an old bird new tricks

After some extensive research and thought, I have decided to adopt a cockatiel. After contacting a parrot rescue aviary (the only one remotely close to where I live), I learned that they have a really nice, healthy, and well mannered female lutino cockatiel. My only concern is that she is 14 years old. I know that cockatiels can live to be in their 20s and 30s, so the life expectancy isn't what concerns me but whether I will be able to train her and whether or not she will bond with me and my family members. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

building trust between you and the bird is the most important thing when training her. take it slow and give her a few weeks of adjustment before you start anything too new. all birds will learn at different rates so its hard to say. training her is not impossible but it wont be as easy as a hand reared youngster.
