Riley-white faced grey cockatiel (hatch date 6-28-2014) RIP Halloween-pied cockatiel
I know tiel are not known for foraging however I don't think that's a reason to not teach them to forage. I have started teaching Riley. She has a cardboard box with a small whole in the top to get them started and I have it completely filled with seeds as that's the only time she gets seeds. The breeders told me tiels don't/won't forage yet Riley is starting to figure out that she needs to tear apart the cardboard to get the seeds she just hasn't yet figured it out entirely. She has started poking SMALL holes in the top so its only a matter of time. Does anyone else teach their tiels to forage?

My cockatiel loves her toys and I fear she would be extremely angry if she thought the bigger parrots were getting better things to play with. This is her absolute favorite.

That looks like fun. Fortunately Riley's an only bird so she can't get jealous of larger birds lol. I think its important to teach all birds to forage to help cure boredom and entertain themselves

Mine love to forage. And the toy does not have to be fancy. A handful of oat hay keeps them busy for hours.
