Riley-white faced grey cockatiel (hatch date 6-28-2014) RIP Halloween-pied cockatiel
I take Riley out everyday for varying amounts of time and sometimes multiple times however the only toy she plays with non stop for as long as she's out of the cage is my sweatshirt. She chews on the metal eyelets ,the draw strings and the plastic on the draw string ends. This is a daily fascination with her. She doesn't even play with her toys this much.

Must be shiny! My Mango loves to play with my gold necklace, and my glasses. He uses my glasses as a handle to maneuver around on my shoulder.

My grandfather just lost a diamond from his 4 thousand dollar earring thanks to Smokey, his whiteface pied Cockatiel. I've lost diamonds from my earrings also. I learned not to wear studs anymore.

They love to break your most valuable things as a habit ^^ but its all good.

Actually the reflective parts of my safety sweatshirt shine more than they eyelets on it but she shows no interest in the reflective parts. But as long as she is entertained and not doing something dangerous its OK she can play with my sweatshirt all she wants.

I woke up this morning to Rocky (who normally leaves my shoes alone) chewing on the insole of my shoes I have no idea how he got them out of my shoes but I wasn't happy. As a puppy he was in the habit of chewing my shoe laces. So I know that feeling.

Yeah I just made her very mad at me. She still has quite a few pin feathers coming in (as shown by the keratin protection she sheds while preening on me and her rough plumage) so because she is preening so much I gave her a bath to help ease the itching. She didn't enjoy it but I also need a better spray bottle so I can mist her. However after she was wet I noticed she still has about 1/4th of her feathers still coming in.

Have you tried taking her into the shower? My birds love the shower, just make sure it's cold water, Some birds like luke warm, but most like it cold

No I havent tried that mostly because a shower perch won't stick to my shower wall nothing sticks to my shower wall. But I also don't tolerate cold water very well. Also she didn't mind a very fine mist at the breeders house so I will just pick up a better spray bottle tomorrow. she's been going crazy with preening cause of her pin feathers which has made me paranoid that she's going to start plucking.

Haha my birds' favorite toy is the straps to my iPad case. If she's bonded to you, and likes hanging out on your shoulder, you could go to the kitchen (or any) sink, and mist her over both of you. Mist her while she's on your shoulder. Yup, you'll get a little wet, but she'll feel more secure. Just hold the bottle well over your head and let 'er rip. She just might like it if she has you with her keeping her safe and getting misted with her. :)

You can mix a capfull of GREEN Listerine mouthwash to a quart of water and use that to spray them. It smells good and its great for their feathers. This is what we used at Todd Marcus Birds Exotic (And we sold 1 spray bottle full for 6 bucks ^^) It's completely safe and won't hurt their eyes. I Promise!

You could also stand outside the shower and hold your beautiful birdy under the stream also. I put a bird stand in the shower, turn the cold on, and walk away as my birds flap and run back and forth thru the streams. They all love it

I wouldn't say she has bonded to me yet especially seeing as I've only had her for 5 days. But she does like me. I made sure to give her cuddles after her bath.

I had a bunny who chewed the cord to the computer mouse while I was working on a huge final assignment I was less than happy. I had to rehome her as she I was told she was an adult when I got her but she went from the size of a dutch rabbit to over 30lbs.

And Timothy how is mouthwash a good way to give your bird a bath (yes I understand it's diluted but still) and if I set Riley down and walk away she will fly to me or pretend she can't fly and hit the floor like she did a couple times and I picked her up told her stop pretending I had seen her fly more than once the next time she actually flew and landed properly.
