I've had my lovely Cockatiel, Arka, for about six months. She was eight weeks old, and very wary of me. All this time, I've been trying to gain her trust with treats and by keeping a respectful distance. And it's paying off! :) She is now walking to me and climbing onto my shoulder without being lured! She plays with my fingers, steps up (sometimes), and talks to me. I'm so proud of her! She still hisses at times when I try to move my hand towards her, but she is doing this much less than she used to. She actually wants to interact with me now. :)
I'm so glad that we've gotten this far, and I know there are even better things to come!

Cute name! That's such a good feeling when they begin to bond. My cockateil was 7 months, untrained and still living with his nest siblings when I got him. 2 months later and a lot of patience, the biting has stopped and he has the basic commands down pat. Fortunately, I work from home, Gino is always by my side!
