Hi everyone,
I am going today to see the new indian ringneck,
I was mistaken, i thought he was a normal green, but it turns out that he is a beautiful blue!! :D, he is this years bird & sounds amazing! Not perfectly sure about his age & tameness. I am going to see him today, but i will buy him tomorrow :), I have setup his cage & everything. Is there anything i need to know? also, to teach him to talk & to be tame what will i have to do? I know that patience is the key & we should approach him slowly when taming him & to teach him to talk, the words must be clear & repeated MANY MANY times? is anything else i need to know about taming, talking & taking care?
thanks guys :) :blue2: :blue:

Hi there, you must be so excited. :D
Enormous responsibility becoming a guardian.
Have you previously been a guardian to a bird?
Where are you getting the bird from, a breeder, pet shop or adopting one?
Have you had any interaction with the bird previously?
Sorry for all the questions, helps us to help you.....
When the bird arrives at his new home, give him time to settle down, get used to his new environment and family.

Below is a link, which will assist you tremendously

Indian Ringneck Parakeet, IRNs, Ringneck Parakeet, Rose Ringed Parrot, Rose Ringed Parakeet

Any further questions, just ask
Good luck

Congratulations on getting a new addition! You have the right idea with being patient. Some people prefer to leave the bird in its cage for the first few days and just talk to it softly. Others believe handling should start right away. Honestly, I think you should 'read the bird' and see how comfortable he is. He will let you know when he is comfortable and ready to start getting to know you. Teaching the 'step up' is probably the most valuable thing you can teach him. Once he is comfortable with being held and scritched (this may take a while). Just sit there holding him and scritching/stroking for a while. I did this with buddy on the first day I bought her home (which was a bit rushed IMO) and quite a bit over the following weeks - She became very tame. Just remember, whatever you to, just observe him to make sure he is not uncomfortable. Watch for signs of stress, wing flipping, pinned eyes, tail fanning etc. Good luck. ;)

Thanks guys! :D, i've got him!! :D, hes around 7 months old or less, he is this years bird :), he is absolutely beautiful!!! but i had to use a towel to move him from a small travel cage to a bigger aviary type, so hes abit scared now. He isnt aggressive, hes just really fearfull! what should i do to change his behaviour? i want him to be tame, but i know it will take time, but so far, not good :(

Congratulations! Try to stay near his cage and just talk to him in a soothing voice. Let him get used to your presence. That'll help him be less afraid.
