I just got the call that Grandma's Canary passed away last night. Not sure how long they live but he was probably 10ish. Sweet little bird, the tamest Canary I have ever known. RIP Sunny!
Now Mom wants to go get Grandma a parakeet! When I asked "why a parakeet, why not another Canary?" she says "because any bird will probably outlive Grandma and if I get her a parakeet you can take it, but I know you don't want a Canary"
Grandma will be 94 in a few months, and I know she loves having a pet. She's in an assisted living and can't take care of a cat or dog, so her bird was her company everyday. The girls that help take care of Grandma there are really good about making sure the paper gets changed daily and fresh food and water is given a couple times a day, so I have no problem with Grandma having another bird to keep her company.
I just didn't know I will be inheriting it when the time comes... I guess I better go with Mom to pick it out....
