I have a new friend at the rescue.
From what I understood, hand tame Eastern's become wild without constant handling.
This fact stopped me from getting one way back a few years.
And this is reflected by the cost hear in NZ. Aviary around $30nz.

She was found and handed into another branch of Auckland Bird Rescue.
The lady that runs that branch wanted to move her to Green Bay, as she was very cage aggressive. She attacked if you went into her space?
I was down that way and called into meet Hilary and to see if I could transport Rikki to Green Bay.
I meet Rikki and sure enough she took a chunk out of my hand.:D
Anyway we packed her up and off we went.
That evening we took her into our washroom. (only safe place) and after a bit of flying around, I got her to stay on my shoulder, for awhile that is.
Next afternoon I had her out in the bird room and she went up and sat on my head.
At this stage it was thought she was a he, oh well! Thanks to Oknuma this has been corrected to a female. I had said as much the first time I saw her.
And she was cage aggressive to the point her cage was flagged as a warning.
Day 3.
As you can see I had her in my hands to hold her wing out to see the white line that says it is a she. And then kissed her. And she was fine with that.
Day4. I had her out for awhile in the bird room and she flew off onto another cage. When she got disturbed she flew over to me and landed on my head.:D:D
Day 5.
She has lost all aggression to everyone??????
I had her out twice today and she seems to be fairly relaxed about me holding her while we walked around.
I have spent around 6hrs total with this girl. So much for them being hard to keep tame.

It has been decided not to list her as a found Fid. This is due to she may of been released, not an escapee. We feel someone could not put up with her.
And Nobody has come forward looking for her.
She has been knocked around a bit and her feathers a damaged.
And she talks, I am not sure of her full vocab.
Rikki, Bad Boy, are two that she says.
I feel she is a good girl and look forward to spending more time with her.
And we may not be allowed by DOC to rehome her. Some regulations, I am not sure about.

I think I am starting to understand Rikki and what makes her tick!
Today I was the only one in the birdroom. And had Zambezie, Potato, and Rikki out loose.
With Rikki I just walked past and opened her cage and then kept a sly eye on her.
After a bit she started to fly around and came to be near me, then fly off and look around.
She flew to me twice, once on the head, and another while I was bending over sorting out food bowls. She landed on my back. Both times I just let her do her thing.
Later Lyn (who is sick at the moment) came down to medicate the Penguin and Pukeko. Rikki had come to the bench beside me. I went out to feed the Loris in the aviary and when I came back Lyn was holding her hand inside her dressing gown ?
She had Rikki in there, as soon as I went out the door Rikki ran across the bench and full on attacked Lyn, biting her on the wrist. So Lyn just swept her into her dressing gown to control her.
So I maybe wrong about her not being aggressive any more.
I could see the funny side as she is fine with me.
