Recently our dear lady, Julie (ravensgryf), was interested in figuring out the mutations of my budgie flock...(fine by me since trying to figure out budgie mutations gives me a headache!! LOL) so of course I had to take new pictures of everyone, so I thought I'd share since it's been a while....

So, we'll start with The Queen: Quigley...she's an approximately 4.5 yr old dominant pied sky blue opaline female (confirmed- she's laid eggs before). She is about as sassy as they come....she keeps everyone in check, and I admit she's a bit tubby but that's because not only does she eat her own portions, but the other two regurgitate for her as well  She tolerates Lemon, but is in love with Snow~ so of course there is the occasional budgie drama lol ACK ACK ACK!!!!

Next is Lemon...or should I say Lemonita lol (for some silly reason I thought lemon was a boy, but really is a girl). She's a 2 yr old light green grey wing. She just wants to get along with everyone~ Quigley tolerates her advances for affection to a point, which then triggers Snow to become jealous and bicker bicker bicker!!! Lol

And last, but not least, is Snow. He's a 1.5 yr male budgie~ and so far nobody has been able to figure out his mutation. All we know so far is that he is not a true albino, with the possibility of being pied. Someone mentioned a "poorly marked" lacewing, but lacewings have cinnamon (brown) markings and his are light grey. When I originally brought him home, I thought for sure he was an albino because he was pure white with vibrant red eyes...and now that he's matured, it's clear he's got something else showing through. Whatever he is, it's pretty uncommon since even the "experts" seem to be baffled lol but that's ok- I love them all no matter what they are or how rare or common they are.

His "baby" pictures:

And now....

Shirre you have the most gorgeous budgies! It's obvious they're healthy and happy and pampered :). Love the pic of Lemon upside down! Snow is a special young man regardless of his mutation, and he is beautiful.

ROTFL at Quigley getting "extra" food besides eating her own haha. Another female and a male can live fairly peacefully together with her because everyone acknowledges Quigley as "Your Highness" without dispute :18:!

Thank you, Julie!

Snow and lemon love their acrobatics, but Quigley is a true lady-- none of that nonsense for her!! Hmph! (Lol)

And yep- she's the undisputed Queen of the budgies ...give me your food and all your attention and no one will get hurt!! Lol

Except the jealousy between snow and lemon sometimes ends up with some tail-pulling...but that's the extent of it

Awww, I love these three sweeties! Quigley looks like royalty, she deserves to be treated like a Queen. Lemonita is as cute as her name, very pretty girl. Snow is beautiful, no matter what his mutation, but it would be nice to know.

Thank you for posting new pics, Shirre! Your budgies have a great life, it always makes me smile to see them so happy.

I forgot some pictures~

"it's all mine!!!" ~Quigley
"Yeah well don't talk with your beak full!!" ~Lemon

You guys are all weird.....

And I made this bird-safe paper mâché hut for them

I was really nervous that Quigley would get all nesty, but she didn't (phew!)....she just wanted to destroy it all by herself [emoji57]

I know, right?! He's changed so much!!! Someone tried to tell me he was probably just dirty and that I should give him a bath LMBO!! [emoji23] umm NO. he's as clean and white as well~ snow! And if you actually look at the pictures you can see the scalloping and head bars.....some people SMH

All we know so far is that he may have albino somewhere in his lineage, but he's not a "true" albino, that he may have some pied in him, but other than that~ nobody seems to know....if I knew what his parents looked like it would help (ha! Good luck finding them!), or if I bred him and saw what babies came out (not gonna happen either!)....so for now, he's a mystery budgie [emoji41]

OMG I just LOVE that homemade jolly ball!! I knew you were talented with bird toys Shirre, but that one is most impressive! I can't believe they tore it up that much. Looks like Chili got to it haha.

It was an interesting project, but I'll definitely make more!! I made three, but I've been debating giving the large one to chili because she's terrified of balloons

They?? No, no- all that was done by Quigley lol she wouldn't let anyone else touch it [emoji57]

Aww thank you [emoji8]

Quigley's quite the little piggy....I'm surprised she's not pink [emoji6]

Sure!! It's pretty easy, but overall it's pretty time consuming...but I'll make a tutorial when I get the chance- it may take me a few days so I can take pictures along the way.
