Cockatiel
Hi all, I am wanting to get a second cockatiel. I love my 5 month old baby. It spends most of the time out of the cage hanging out with us, so I feel bad when we leave it alone. I really like having it as a pet and thought it"d be great to have another so they could be buddies and we wouldn't worry so much when we aren't home. The vet told me if they share a cage they will bond to each other. I do not have room for 2 full size cages in my house. I am wondering exactly what does this mean for me and my family if they "bond " together? Will she not be our pet anymore? Will they not allow us to play and love on them? I would love some input from people that own multiple tame cockatiels. Thanks.

I would think that if you spend time daily with each bird they should still remain tame.

I've had friends with 2 that lived in the same cage and they were still friendly and loving.

Every bird is different though! Maybe someone else on here has 2 cockatiels that could speak from their own personal experience.

It means virtually nothing.

It all depends on the individual birds, but if you get two babies and keep interacting with gem they should stay tame and sweet NO NEST BOXES!

Be aware, you NEED two cages to start out with, if you just stick another bird in the first cage, they will rip each other apart.
