RIP to Spade, died unexpectedly while I was away for the day...

Welcome to my new feathered friends,
Cinder :grey: and Pineapple :greenyellow:
Cinder is a normal grey female (gets along well with Smokey)
Pineapple is a disabled green parakeet.
I wasn't planning on getting a parakeet but I stopped by the store to look for toys and he was on the bottom of the cage, hurting his bone against the grate and unable to drink water (because the bowl was too high). Very upset at the store for not giving him needed attention and care...

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. :(

But that parakeet is adorable! What was wrong with him? Injured foot?

I'm not sure actually.. the pet store gave me no information about him. His leg is cut where the bone connects, so if his leg was our arm, he only has an upper arm.

Ah so he's missing a foot? It can happen sometimes from the parents, chewing it off when they're little. Or it could have been from a cagemate, unfortunately.

I'm sorry to hear about Spade. Your new feathered friends are cuties! Poor little Pineapple, I'm sure he's thankful that you rescued him and has an opportunity to be cared for at last. Do you have little handicap accomodations, or does he get around pretty well?

If you need some small flat perches for him I'd be willing to help you out. I made some before for my Sydney.

That would be great! I was trying to find some flat perches at the pet store with no luck.

For the most part, he is fine, I usually have cloth set where he is sitting (ex, the windowsill) so he doesn't hurt his bone. I haven't been able to find flat perches though. I used a box with a side cut out and filled it with some nesting material so he can get in and out easily.. but he likes to climb onto the side of the boxes and sit on the top of the ledge
