SOOOOOOOOOO We had a MAJOR step forward today!! Lately i've been able to get little bub here to perch on my finger but ONLY if I had the perch in my hand also lol I had to trick him and then he's fine on my finger til I get him off and today I actually opened the main door of the cage(instead of going through the food bowl door) and I was able to get him on my finger within 5 mins and he was chomping away at the little millet sprig and I was able to bring him out of the cage and he just stayed relaxed the whole time!! He never showed any signs of being nervous or that he was going to fly off!! YAY I've had him for about a month and he came to be absolutely petrified of people!! He would flap around like a crazy bird when I changed his food and would rock back and forth if I came near the cage!

See bird newbs patience pays off! patience is key! I've sat in this chair by my computer with my hand in the cage for HOURS over the past month getting him used to my presence and all that fun stuff and look! It really didn't take him long at all to come around!=D

Well without further ado. I was able to capture a few shots. Which he didn't seem to mind at all btw, please don't mind the small cage. He's in this one for training purposes only and soon will be in the bigger cage I have waiting for him once he's got "step up" down pat!((=

YAY Enjoy my little bub!! which actually i haven't fully decided on a name! what do you guys think??

I was thinking either Quinn, Ollie, Ozzy or Peatree Can't decide!! lol ive been calling him "Bub" for now lol

That's great news Danny! It feels good when a breakthrough happens. How about just keeping him Bub, since that's what you already call him. You would probably still call him that as a nickname even if he had another name. Besides, by now he probably thinks it IS his name!

Congrats! Gaining the trust of a wild parrot is hard, but it is SO WORTH IT!! Good job with having patience! Keep it up!

Thanks guys! I was super excited telling my roomate and she could care less lol! she's not a bird person but I was still rambling to her LOL He's already the best little bird I can tell he's just going to be a joy to bond with

He's so well tempered and he has yet to show any negative behavioral effects! considering where he came from. He's a good boy(:)

Aww...congrats!! Making breakthroughs is so rewarding! I know what you mean about talking to people who aren't bird people...they just don't "get" it:cool:. Keep up the good work!
