My beautiful 8ish yr old 'tiel has laid, for the first time ever :20:
She's in the best condition of her life. She was always such a picky eater, but that has improved tenfold with the arrival of Henry. I assume it's a bit of monkey see, monkey do.
She has laid 3 eggs, the last being a couple of days ago. I've been careful not to provide nasty type spaces. I thought the idea was to leave them with her, and remove them when she rejects them? But she's being the most protective, cute, fierce mother ever. How long do I leave them in there? She's still eating well, in good feather and showing no sign of ill health/discomfort. That is, unless she realises I'm watching her. Then she's as fierce and puffed up as ever.

I feel really sorry for her - I know it's instinctive but she really seems to want these babies!

Birds are very social creatures, so even if they don't get along, they can certainly learn from each other!

If you are going to leave the eggs, you should remove them after about a months time. The eggs usually hatch around 3 weeks after incubation has began, but I have heard of some eggs taking an extra two weeks... so four weeks should be good.

If you want to remove the eggs, or even when you *DO* remove the eggs in 4 weeks time, you need to also remove the triggers to egg laying. That may be changing up the area where she has laid them and possibly changing her day/night hours and possibly diet as well.
