Hi, I just posted pictures of my daughter's pet cockatiel. She was given to us by my SIL and is about a year old. She is tame, steps up and is the boss. She is absolutely gorgeous. Her name is Coco. My husband is her favorite so even though hens are not supposed to talk, I am trying to teach her to say, "Daddy's Girl". She LOVES to be scratched and beckons us all to be her scratch slave.

She sings to my husband so I am playing the Andy Griffith whistle song for her, hoping she will learn to whistle it. It was a favorite program of my husband's.

I am getting to know her better since our poor little ekkie died (she was given to us shortly after our ekkie). I really miss my ekkie so she has been keeping me company.

The light was crummy in here today, but I wanted to take some pictures of her. They are in the gallery. I am not sure what kind of mutation she is, but to me she is the prettiest. My SIL also has an albino cockatiel (which I will try to photograph the next time I visit her) and cockatoos, a grey and...

I'm by far not a tiel expert, my guess would be white faced pearl, beautiful bird :)

Was also thinking, you said SHE sings to your husband, if its actually singing instead of a high pitched repetitive call, she is a he ;)

I am going to have to agree with Bobby. The grey pied doesn't really look anything close to your bird.

I am pretty confused about it too. I think she is could possibly be a white face cinnamon pearl pied. Whew!

Oops, she a whistles a little tune, which is like a bird singing to me. Sorry for any confusion. She did it for me alone for the first time today, but only for about a minute. She goes on and on for my husband though. When she wants something, like to get out of her cage or food, she will give one tone whistle that kind of lifts up.

I'd like to teach her some tricks. But she's pretty independent :)

She's such a beautiful bird! She is definitely a white faced and she also looks like she has some pearl in her too.

White face pearl pied ( light pied?). I learnt about mutations a while back but I still do remember. She is definitely a SHE because male pearls lose theirs through the first and second ( I think, but they definitely lose them while young ) moult. Not cinnamon.

I agree with Sharon, whatever her mutation may be she is beautiful, and the only reason I brought up the singing issue was that I was told that only males sing, like I said I'm far from being an expert on tiels, just going by info I've heard over the years :)

Thanks everyone. She is not a prolific singer. Just a little for my husband and she whistle calls if she wants us to come or if we're leaving without her. Other times she doesn't care. She spends the most of her time preening, which worries me a little because I had a plucking ekkie. But she has lots of toys, attention, goodies and time out of the cage.

i think ur bird may be a he because all cockatiels look like girls but when cockatiels go thru there first molt then u will know if it is a boy or girl right now u cant be sure which it is unless u dna test it but other than that after it molts and think it will be a boy
