:D

I just want to say that this girl really brings so much joy in my life and not one day goes past without me breaking out in laughter because of her doings. She really is special.

Something major happened over the weekend that really made my world turn with happiness and pride! Sterretjie was sitting on her perch in the kitchen and I was busy cooking food. I dropped a bowl with freshly grated coleslaw and it was all over on the floor. I had to take out the broom to clean up the mess and something in the back of my mind told me to not remove Sterretjie first. (She is TERRIFIED of brooms.) I took the broom and swept all around her - I was trembling inside with anxiety. She did not 'fly' away, she did not even scream, she just sat there big eyed and stared at the broom!!!!!!!!

This is HUGE progress!!!! It took 9 months to get her over her broom fear! I am so proud of her. Small steps everyday, maybe one day her past will be completely behind her.

Sterretjie is probably wondering where the heck the beer is to go with that pizza!

Gandalf was scared to death of brooms for some reason. We worked on it by turning it into a game. Eventually, he would just chew on the broom stick and try to pull it out of my hands as I swept around his cage. He still didn't like it when I would go after the occasional cobweb up on the ceiling.

I always love your pics of Sterretjie, she's such a little clown. I'm not fast enough with the camera and I'm a terrible photographer.

Funny about what our birds like and don't like, all of our birds absolutely love to have whisk brooms hanging in their cages as toys. Sooooooooo much fun to tear apart.

A whisk broom is a little one, about 1/4 the size of a real broom, without a handle. It's meant to be held in one hand, and is for small sweeping jobs.
