Indian Ringnecks, Budgies
Hey guys,
I'm new to the forums, So Hello from England!! Im from south london and have 2 ringnecks a baby ringneck and 12 budgies, I Need some info on my ringnecks. I bought a breeding pair a few days ago from my friend, he bred them in march and they had around 6 chicks, the female is green and male is a blue lacewing (white head, blue body with a sky blue tail and a bit of white on the chest)
I put a nestbox on the outside of the cage and noticed that the female went straight in? The male sits on the entrance and keeps looking in, I'm not sure if there scared or if they want to breed again? The female goes in quite a bit and sorted out the shreddings that were inside the nestbox. Do you think they want to breed? What signs do they show before breeding??? I know budgies do a lot of mating dances and calls and gnaw at the wood and go in and out the nest box and spend more and more time in there. I'm not sure about ringnecks though, I bought the chick from him also, I am handrearing him, he is a green and blue colour, he is green pied with blue splodges on his head, wings and chest! Please help me??
Thanks

It is possible that they want to have a second clutch. But normally if they are moved on to a new home you may have to wait for next season. Ringnecks will lay a second clutch should the first clutch be taken for hand rearing. If they want to breed again don't worry they know what to do. LOL.

Thanks :), I think that they might be scared so they jump in the nest box for safety? So far the hen has only gone in the nest box if I'm there, I hope they breed and don't go in the nest box because there scared!
Thanks again.
