Pellet Problems

I'm trying to get my tiel to eat pellets, I thought mixing in far more pellets than seeds would force him to eat them. Bob thought differently and is throwing them on the ground. Any suggestions?

Been there, still there. Read my post, so far we are still fighting. Anybody w/a young bird, do this while they are still learning new things.

Our avian veterinarian said to keep trying, no matter how long it takes. I've been mixing in equal parts pellet and seed blend, adding dehydrated fruit and veggies. I'm excited whenever I see a half-eaten pellet on the bottom of the cage. That means he ate at least half of one, right?

I also give fresh fruit, veggies and pasta daily, and he's slowly coming around to those too. Patience...patience... that's the key.

Any advice on cooking bird quantities of pasta, prefrably in the microwave. I don't eat pasta, but Bob might like it.

My budgie loves pasta! I cook up just a bit and and store it in the freezer/refrigerator, then warm it up a little each morning and add fresh veggies. Don't know how well birds can smell, but he sure sings when I'm preparing it for him

I was told to undercook the pasta, so that it's still quite firm, not mushy.

It certainly can't hurt to try it and see if he likes it.
