Here are a couple pictures of my budgie, Chantley! He is not tame so I am working on that. He didn't freak out too much tonight when I put my hand in the cage so hopefully he calms down so I can teach him step up.

Im having the same issue. I recently took in my nieces budgies and they are not tame at all. Its hard to feed them with out them flying all over their cage. Is your budgie clipped? I was thinking about having them clipped so they would be easier to train but Im afraid Ill distroy the little trust I have built. I have little to no experiance with small birds and im aafraid ill hurt them their so tiny and cute.

He is not clipped. I am wanting to get him clipped but he is so scared of my hand it is impossible to catch him and I don't want to scare him too much so he is afraid of me forever.

I let my keets do what they wanna do so I don't bother to clip or train them. They're funny to watch, they love to visit my Cockatoo then they tease her then they go back to their house. Every so often I do catch them to give them a full checkup and do nail trimming etc They do not bite me at least...

IF you really want to train them, it is best to clip cause they will fly every where in your house and very hard to catch!!!!

Keats (budgie) born Feb. 18, 2011, and Raphael (budgie) adopted July 3, 2011. Finn, a Brown-Head Poicephalus, born January 4, 2010, has also joined the family!
The one thing I've learned since adding budgies to my home is to be patient :) Handtaming doesn't happen overnight. I could take months, or it could happen quickly. But...patience is the key.

I have 3 budgies and only one of them are hand tamed. Another one of my budgies will scream it's little head off if anybody trys holding her. Try giving it spray millit through the bars of the cage. Then once the bird is used to you hold it out in your hand inside of the cage.Try feeding it spray millit by hand, keep trying!:sailboat2
