I got a new white face female from the rescuer I got my male from and had even taken him with me and he was going nuts when he saw her even in his carrier. He bit me for the first time. I got them both home and my son introduced them outside of the cages and the male was doing very good until...she went into her own cage and he went to his. He paced and squawked and paced and squawked until I finally just had to cover him up. The next day I "tried" to get them both out and on top of the floor cage to play on the gym on top and he was so bad biting me, hard, it darn hurt and she was sweet as pie. Ended up he had a fit while I was trying to take her out and he ended up in the cage with her, he was a bird on a mission! I let them spend the day/night together in her cage, there was no way I could get him out. The next day I got them both into the other cage to get them fresh air all day outside(my bf is home all day and they are in a fenced in back yard)so maybe he could calm down. Came home from work and brought them in, went out to eat, came home and tried to get them both out and into the bigger floor cage, wasn't happening. He is so bad trying to attack my hand when I change the water, food he's actually scaring me! Damn little bird. lol My rescuer said to bring her back, that he is now attached to her and I am now nobody but a threat to him. I want them seperated and into respective cages and start this all over again to see if maybe he will calm down, or should I take her back and maybe get a male? He was with males and had no issues like this at all when I got him. He still sings and whistles and talks but when I come by the cage he hisses and tries to bite. I tell him gently, "no bite" but hell that ain't workin. What do you all suggest? The female is really a good girl...but if he won't be a good boy and I can't get to her so why keep her if he has an attitude. He found a new girlfriend...and I don't like that. I want a bird I can hold and take out of the cage not one that will never come out. I had one like that I inherited and I felt so bad for him, but he was never handled when I got him and I tried but he preferred to be in his cage. I miss my male, sad he won't come out to me anymore. Does she go back? Is it too late that he bonded in 3 days already and won't ever be the same like before? I only did have him for 4 mo before that, was it too early to introduce a new bird or a female one at that?
Thanks!

Angel the blue and gold macaw, mimsy the lesser sulphur too, rocky the galah & willow the blue crowned conure.
it might be cos its breeding season and he's over excited that there is a girl!! did you quarantine before introducing them? its important to quarantine before putting them together incase the newbie has any illnesses etc that could be past on to your little guy.
if its hormones that are making him crazy it may die down after the season is over. does the female seem happy with him? some birds do "put up" with humans but would rather another bird companion.

Well that's the chance you take when you intro a new bird to your pet.If you take the female back he might go back to being your pet again but it will take some time.Tiels aren't too bad ,it'll just take some time.

Well failed on the quarantine, he kinda took over and went in her cage and that was it. She's not really interested in him at all really. today I will do what it takes to seperate them and he will just have to be by himself until he calms down. she's really a good quiet girl and I don't want to give her back. I am going to get them seperated and let them be next to each other in cages. If that fails I will have my daughter take her upstairs to her room and let her keep her up there (she's 23) and let her be her bird but will he know she is still in the house you think? he bit me again this morning and drew blood, as much as i don't want to i may just put on a glove which i have heard is a no no but I got to get him out and I do not want to be bit again, they hurt them little buggers, couldn't imagine getting bit by a bigger parrot youch! and he was ok with me before i got her, he never ever bit me or even tried. i appreciate your help and i am going to try this all over again with introducing them after breeding season is over, isn't that the end of August? i'm going to let them be apart for a month or so and let them out seperately and than put them together on top of the cage with the gym and keep them apart. but next season you think he will go nuts again? ya know he blocks her from us when we are talking to her in the cage, he's a little devil!

I think you're going to have to get rid of one or the other.I'd say him, but i know he's your pet.You can try separating them but i don't have much faith in that working out.If she's up stairs he'll hear her and keep calling to her and still hate you.Wish i could offer more hope but in my opinion once male tiels discover girls they'll kick you right to the curb.

Well I got them seperated, it wasn't too bad, and i left him out on the floor and he stepped up right onto my hand and didn't even bite me. He nibbled on my ring and that was it, I told him I missed him and he needed a break, hoping after breeding season he becomes a better man, i mean bird. lol just a tad bit controlling he was to her, she has no interest in him either. i'm going to give them their own space and after a week or so going to let them have a "playdate" outside the cage and than back into their respective cages. see how that works. and yes I noticed the screaming, i brought him into my kitchen where i usually keep him during the day while i'm at work and he was screaming for her @ 7am and he won, I took him back in to her. he can watch her all day if that makes him happy. i think she is VERY happy to be in her own cage, i don't think she likes him very much, even though she was calling back to him. we will see how it goes. i'm not a quitter!

well today Beau decided when I was giving him new food to actually come out on his own out the food door. silly bird, that was not the time to do it, since I have to go to work, I let him come out on my arm(he was trying to bite me today so no finger!) and I let him go to the top of the cage for a bit and on his own he went back down into the cage. OK it's a start, I told him when I get home tonight I will let him come out on his own again if he wants. I'll open Lucy's door too and see if she will come out first on her own for some play time, if not he is on his own after I try with her. One day at a time.

Hey l found that very interesting !
Did think it was to quick to put them in together , When my daughter had her cockatiel then many months later she needed a friend for her bird as she workes a lot she was told to move the cage change it so it looked differant when they were put togather it was after the birds were first quaratined 3 weeks then sep cage for 2 weeks then after they flew around together and all was well that night into the changed cage all went very well . ( We now know they are both hens )
