I'll post up pictures later but has anyone seen or own a alex where there head molts first? I went to get my bird groom and the next day he lost feathers on his head and now he has patches I'm guessing he is molting because he has lost even more feathers on his head and some under his wing. It just looks weird to me and wondering if this is common.

I look under their wings... if new feathers are coming out, they'll be molting soon...

This is not a time to clip...

Alex's look rather shabby when molting. Here in OZ they molt after the breeding season. They breed in winter here so by end of spring beginning of summer they start to look ratty for a few months.

If your Alex is dropping feathers check his head to see if new pins are appearing if so there is nothing to worry about.
