I was at the video store, talkig to some people and mentioned Puck.

A girl overhears: "Do you have a bird? My friend needs to find a home for her cockatiel, or she's going to have to take him to the pound."

His name is Clark, and he is friendly and talks. I don't know age or why they are gettin rid of him.

I would love another bird, and I love cockatiels. It would be nice to have two birds, so they can keep each other company (separate cages, of course), and possibly a bird who is less moody than a caique, haha. I am moving out of my apartment and back in with my mom to save money, so noise and amount of pets shouldn't be a problem.

My only reservation tat I can think of is that I am considering going on a long road trip this year. I don't know if I actually will or not, but if I did, it would be at least a couple months, maybe longer, and I was only planning on taking Puck. My mom could probably take care of him but I dunno if that would be ideal.

I was also thinking that maybe I could foster Clark and look for a good home for him. I think I'd rather get him than see him go to the pound. He'd probably get adopted, but I don't think they screen adopters.. or maybe I could suggest/take him to the parrot rescue...

I saw his picture, and he is soooo cute!

What do you guys think?

If you don't expect the two birds to be friends (as in preening each other), they will keep each other company...

Cockatiels can be pretty high strung, but if you let your Mom bond with the bird, you should be able to take Puck on holidays...

Fostering would work as well... I think you should just get him out of the environment he's in now, and play it by ear...

I just found out that the Cockatiel's closest relation is the Red Tailed Black Cockatoo...

I think Puck would get along with the other bird, but I don't know how it would feel about him. I've never had problems with pets not getting along after time (except for a dove and a cockatiel... dove got bit by a cockatiel, and spent the rest of its life trying to pull out cockatiels' feathers when it was near one).

I think I will play it by ear. My mom has had lots of cockatiels. I haven't asked her how she feels about it though.

That's the closest relative? How cool!
