Thanks... but Ben cannot be trusted.. He will go after a bird, but probably never hurt it... He had Cory for an extended amount of time, because I couldn't get him off her... When I did, Cory was very wet, but no visible injuries... Years later Cory is still alive and well...

Last year, during the floods, he also had a Rainbow Lorikeet in his mouth... I got it off him, and the Lory seemed fine, but died later from shock.

Cute....Luckily our dog (a terrior mix) has learned very quickly that Tate is a family member and not to be chased or touched. I'm sure it helps that when Tate does feel threatened by the dog that he puffs up and spreads his wings to show how big and mean he is! But....my boyfriend just got a french bulldog puppy that is way too curious when Tate is out and about in too close, so I worry that this puppy won't be so easily trained : ( We'll see....

Puppies are easily trained... and they don't really have their prey drive, yet.. so if the pup is introduced to the bird early, the bird will teach him a lesson.. but won't hurt him..

Unfortunately some are only trained towards that specific bird and will kill any other birds around. My huskies will kill any other birds except Willie as he bit both of them when they were pups. I tried introducing Dixie to Alexis my girl husky, she immediately tried to kill her. I intervened and never again trust them with any other bird but Willie. But I still keep an watchful eye as I never leave Willie unattended around the dogs. I'm only a foot away.

Ben just wants to play, but even that could kill a bird...

Max is much more afraid of the two little conures I have...
