Re: Here come the babies :)

I plan on keeping one, our other budgies are terrified of people, they're getting better as far as fear goes but I don't think they would ever enjoy handling. I had to take barnaby out and do his nails a couple days ago and he sat on my hand for a little bit(he for some reason could never fly), but then he jumped off to the floor and made a run for it. So I think it would be nice to have one we can actual hold and love on

I have no idea if they are all fertile though.....I know I will be hand feeding some if more then 6 hatch , it's so much for the hen to feed ,usually some dont make it. I only breed when I want to have more budgies of my own or a few friends want chicks . But this time I got more then I bargained for

Ha ha ha ...I can just picture the little guy making a run for it
I think they have so much personality for such little ones
I love to hear their chirping , to me it sounds so pleasant.
What is a household without chirping or squawking etc....

Exactly! I love budgie chatter, and it's funny because if the house is really quiet you can hear them from out in our living room and it sounds like we have a rainforest or something in the back of the house

How old are your eggs? If they aren't too close to hatching you could always candle them.

I also had a budgie named Barnaby. He died while I was in college. You should definitely keep at least one because a tame budgie is a wonderful little pet.

When I was at the vet today they told me some lady was complaining about the chirps from the budgies. Here she had just gotten a 'Too. They said they laughed and said wait until your cockatoo screams!

Oh yes , I know I can candle them , but I hate to upset my hen.
I probably should check , but I usually leave them alone now.
I dont like to take the chicks out until they have down covering them to hand feed. IMO , it doesnt make a big difference when you start , as long as its before they feather of course.
Have you ever noticed that the chicks take on many characteristics of the parents ? I really didnt think this was apparent in birds.
But one pair I have , the male is extremely flighty and so are his chicks . But the other one , both parents are very docile and the chicks are practically hand tame even when parent raised.
I thought that was quite interesting . I will see if it carries through to these clutches this year.

Get her phone number and info roxynoodle ! It wont be long before she wants to re home her Too because of his"parrot talk".
Really , all kidding aside , I would keep track of that person because if I could prevent the mistreatment this bird will soon experience just from being a parrot. Yes , they are noisy , they are birds , not stuffed animals I would like to tell this person ...
I dont mean to put you on the spot roxynoodle ,its just that I forsee problems with this person now if she complained about budgie chatter !!!
And i would hate for the Too to start plucking or screeching endlessly because of being ignored or covered or shut in a room alone. Or maybe it will at least be with the budgies
Oh someone just stop me now but this person should not have birds

Oh a horse person , yay I wish I had a foal from my girl
Although she was very green broke and was like flying a kite then walking a horse , lolol. And riding was another challenge , but I wouldnt change a thing about her She died at 24 years old.

Re: Here come the babies :)

Roxy, my "foal" is almost 16 now, lol! She was going to be my future eventing horse, but she lost an eye when she was 4. It's quite a shame as she can jump like a dolphin. So she is a big, pooping pet, but I wouldn't give her up for the world. I feel like I'm the one who gave birth to her, lol!

I'm sure the vet will keep track of the 'Too, and I'm sure she did what she could to educate this woman. I really can't take a 'Too as I think I'd die from asthma. Merlin coming here has made me start saving for a quality air cleaner.
