My IRN bites my mom!

As the title says, my IRN bites my mom but not me. Well, I had him on my shoulder, and he was trying to bite my moms fingers then I went to pet him, and he bit me, not hard, but hard enough.

I'm posting because I've never had a pet bird before, and I'm not sure if I can fix this or not, please leave me a message if you have any advice.

He bit you because someone approached the two of you that he perceived as a threat. He was telling you to "fly" away from the danger. It's a bad idea to allow birds on your shoulder for that reason. He might bite your face next time.

She needs to try to interact with him more. She can try to feed him, clean his cage and give him all his special foods each day like veggies.

She can also try to interact with him when you aren't home or are out of sight or sound.

She should perhaps handle him in a room or place he isn't used to being in. The one his cage is in he may have claimed now as his territory.

You could also try handing him off to her to show him she is an accepted member of the flock.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try all of the above and hope they work, because I'd hate to say it, I'm not sure if I'll want to keep him if my mom cannot play with him either.

You have a good Easter as well.

This is a common problem with many companion birds. They choose one person in the family and then others have hurt feelings, or are even attacked by the bird.

He might be going through bluffing look at this website:Indian Ringneck | Indian Ringneck Bluffing or mabey he is just getting dominant over your shoulder. Bird love going on shoulders because they feel superior and high so mabey stop putting him on your shoulder for a while thats what I did for my IRN and it worked
