I just saw an amazing bird. It's called a Feather Duster Parakeet. It is a natural feather mutation where the feathers continue to grow. Unfortunately the birds' system cannot supply the needed nutrients for this, and most of these beauties do not live more than a year or so. I find mutations like this just tragic... they don't really exist "naturally;" they're usually the result of inbreeding or artificial selection, and that fact that if you breed enough birds, eventually one's going to turn up screwy. I don't know much about this particular mutation, but if it can be predicted, it should always be avoided.
