Sully-2 year old cinnamon and Bella-3 year old normal

So I went to petsmart earlier today to get a toy for my green cheeks and they had just gotten a new batch of baby budgies in. Well I looked closer and noticed that one was on the bottom hobbling around. It was trying to get up the ladder to the food but couldnt. It appears to have splayed leg so I told an employee and he said he will check it out. Well I came back 15 min later to see what they did because I know that they "dispose" of sick or injured birds, and it wasn't in the cage anymore. I asked where it was and they said they took into their vet, I told them I would like to buy her so the guy went in the back(not in the direction of the vet) and came out with her. So now I have a baby budgie with what appears to be splayed leg that I am going to nurse back to health and hopefully keep. She is in quarantine in my sisters room with food, water and a toy. I don't think the leg is broken because she is using it fairly well(she even climbs on it) it just looks like splayed leg so I am going to make a vet appointment for it to get her checked out and hopefully fixed.
I'm not sure of the sex as she is still very young, I will get pics up soon.

She is the sweetest thing ever! She loves to cuddle, she knows how to stepup and she is so tiny. he is under 4 months old so thats probably why she is so small, but I mean she is just so adorable! I decided to name her jelly bean. her poops all look normal and she isnt puffed up or anything so I dont think she is sick, its just her leg.
Here she is! The first pic is to show you her leg, see how it is off to the side.

I will get some better pics some other time because you can't see all of her colors in those pics. Her green is more turquoise than green it's so cool! She hasn't made any noise yet so we will see what she can do when she is adjusted.

What a cutie! You are very good person for rescuing her. She probably would have been put down otherwise.

That's why I went back to check on her, because I knew the olny thing they would have done would be to put her down because they can't sell sick or injured birds. They put them down because it is cheaper to do that then to get them treated by a vet.
She is so gentle, she lets me pet her and hold her. She was the only one clipped in the cage at the store, which I thought was odd, so she can't fly but she try's to. I put two perches in there for her because she was going to sleep on the side on the cage but I didn't want her to fall so I put a rope perch in there for her to sleep on.
The first thing I did when I got her home was give her food and water, she ate non-stop for 10 min, poor thing would have starved to death at petsmart. I just hope she is a female so I can eventually try to put her with my other two budgies.

Yes there is some blue-ish purple but I'm not sure if it is just a young male changing color because she can't be any older than 2-3 months old due to the fact that she has all the bars on her head and petsmart just got her in yesterday.

This is for IcyWolf or for anyone who knows a lot about baby budgie ceres...
Her cere is very faint blue-ish purple/pink with the slightest white ring around the nostrils.
This is the best pic I can get if her cere...

It's hard to tell with that small of a picture, even enlarged it's only about two inches by two inches, from the picture it looks like it has really small nostrils like a male would and the cere looks pretty pink, also indicative of a young male, but if there is white around the nostrils it's probably a female.

Aww , your such a angel to have saved that little one !!
She is really pretty , she looks a bit like my Cindy , one of many female budgies I have , lol.
Hopefully is is splayed and it can be corrected. If not , you may not want to put her into a cage with older ones. They could pick on her or one might adopt her , but you need to keep an eye on them and make sure she gets accepted.
If not , you may have to get another baby for her so she has a friend , if thats what you are concerned with. If you don't mind her being alone , you can have a lot of fun training her and she could end up talking too :). Either way , I know she is in the best of hands :)
Good luck at the vet office , keep us in the loop :)

Oh bless her heart. You are a very good person for taking her in. They should have just given her to you. She must have been really scared unable to get to food and water. She is a lucky little girl.

cocketial and alexanderin and the coming Derbyan parakeet
since there is no obviouse wound on its leg, i assume the issue is lack of calcium, whether caused by no supply of cal or cannot absorb enough cal.
normally i will give him a big cuttlfish bone for everyday chewing and, most importantly, take him to the soft sunshine for 30 mins to one hour everyday, just help absorbing cal.
then the leg gets stronger gradually within one week.

same thing happened to my cocketial and alexanderid, but they are sound and healthy now.

Splayed legs in babies are usually caused by the hen sitting on the baby wrong, a nestbox without a concave in it or the baby being on too slippery of a surface. Their legs are pretty pliable when they first hatch and if one or both of the legs aren't kept under the body of the bird they will grow deformed like that.
