Peatree the pineapple green cheek conure, and Weasley, Hermione, Bellatrix, and Jacob the parakeets.
Today I found my Dudley laying at the bottom of his cage. He was still alive, but he wasn't well at all. My mom was at work, and she had the car with her, so I couldn't take him to the vet, so, I wrapped him up in a blanket and cuddled with him. Well, my baby didn't make it.

I can't believe it. I only had him for two week. But ya know, you sure can get attached to a little budgie in two weeks. He was so amazing, I loved him so much.

Tomorrow, it will have been one month since Jacob passed. I have lost two birds in one month. At least I know Jacob was there to welcome Dudley onto the Rainbow Bride.

Fly free baby, I love you.

When you lose two birds in one month, you should have your other birds tested. And the deceased bird examined to see what the cause of death. There might be a virus that you did not notice that's killing your birds. That's why we always suggest quarantine your birds for 30+ days before introducing them together. I am sorry for your loss, but seriously you need to get those stuffs checked out before getting another bird or lose another bird.

Thank you.
MikeyTN, my bird that died 1 month ago fell and broke his neck, I didn't have the bird that died today when I had him. So the deaths had nothing to do with each other. I do think Dudley may have been sick, and am keeping an eye on my other birds.

Birds CAN be carriers and not show any signs of sickness and still pass onto other birds. The virus can still be present until you completely sanitized everything where the other birds have touched, even their dust, fecal matter etc. IF there's carrier bird, they should be treated right away and have everything sanitized.

When you say fell and broke his neck, please do explain! I've seen birds flew against the wall or windows and hurt themselves or even die from it. Fell and breaking their neck would the first I've heard. Cause they usually flop as they go down so usually not head first.

My first bird was a parakeet named Buddy (passed away November 8, 2012). My newest friend is a parakeet named Chipper.
I am really sorry to hear what happened. Losing one pet would be heartbreaking enough...but losing two in such a short time period would be horrible. I lost my parakeet (my first pet bird) Buddy on November 8, and it was devastating. I had him for about 3 months, and we had really bonded. I cried hysterically. Sometimes I still feel like crying. I did get another parakeet, Chipper, and that actually has helped so I don't feel so lonely and empty. He can never replace Buddy, but he will be another good little friend.

Believe me, I do have an idea of what you're going through. I love animals and I get very attached to them too. I lost a lot of pets when I was a kid. And I've been through worse...one of my best friends passed away a couple of years ago after he was hit by a car in a hit-and-run accident. But when Buddy died, it still really affected me. Whether your friend is a person or an animal, it hurts like hell when they pass on. Don't ever let anyone tell you things like "it's just a pet" or "it was just a bird." It doesn't matter. It was a living being that you had a close bond with, so it does hurt, and people who don't have pets or don't get close to animals will never understand. And I'm saying this as someone who lost a human friend not that long ago, and I still realize that it hurts to lose a pet.

Hang in there. And yes, please do keep an eye on your other birds. When I got Chipper, I bought everything new for him...new cage, new food bowls, etc. Partly because I just couldn't stand to see Buddy's things anymore, but also because I wanted to be sure the new bird had a good start.

I hope it makes you feel a little bit better that you were able to hold Dudley and comfort him in his last moments. You were there for him.
