If you don't know Dante is a young untamed cockatiel I found earlier november 2011. I tamed him in a week into a little cuddle bug eager to learn but he was much too loud and drove my family a bit crazy. Since he was just bird I found I couldn't keep him so I gave him to my BFF who had another cockatiel.

Today while at her 23 birthday party I decided to bird nap him(with permission of course) as he is very hormonal, can be cage aggressive, and doesn't really like to be touched. I'm going to work with him for 1-2 weeks or until mid May until I bring him back home. He's going to progress very fast, he's smart and I understand how birds react to humans.

I'll also try getting him to talk on command, he says several phrases and whistles. I'll try to get it on video.

Here's a few pics of him

Recall training him before I gave him to my friend

Good luck training him!!! I received one of the babies I've raised back to me that turned out to be a terror, but he was not like that when he left. He would draw blood and be super hateful. But after working with him, he's MUCH better now and the only time he would try to bite me is when I'm trying to get him off my partner's shoulders, which was much more tolerable compared to when he first came to me. He LOVES my partner!!!! He sites on my shoulder nicely now days but if my partner is around, he leaves me which I don't mind since I have other birds to tend to...lol....

Thanks :) I think Dante will improve very quickly, plus he isn't that bad. He doesn't bite, but opens his beak and nips a little while screaming at us. And he does like his cuddles sometimes. I gave him to my friend and soon after she had him he started going through puberty, so she got the crazy teenager stuff. Now he has all those hormones from breeding season.

Dante is such a cutie! Beautiful photos! And good luck on training him! :)

He reminds me of Tiny, a rescued cockatiel I had before

Here's a photo of her :)

The boys have a tendency to go wild if you ever give them a mate. I can handle all my Cockatiels but the girls do better as they're tolerable with me and they like to come to see me as they know who gives them treats....lol....The only boy that we handle is Peaches, the one that I mentioned earlier. He's over a year old but does not seem to be interested in girls or other Cockatiels period as he prefers people. There's been many many people that want to take him home and I had to tell them no. I'm just afraid he would turn back to his old self plus he LOVES my partner as he sings to my partner, but never to me.

Although I'm not a fan of Bird Tricks, I'm glad you picked up some of their better training methods! Can't wait to hear how Dante progresses!!!! Plus, seeing more photos of him!
