I just noticed today that my girl Sookie:white1: was having difficulty walking. Her feet have gotten really deformed and it looks like she has growths under them. She looks healthy otherwise except for some runny b.m.'s. She still hops around and flies. No spiky feathers on the top of her head. She might be around 4/5 yrs. old. I thought she might be developing arthritis. Would diet do this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated asap.

Confused:confused:

I agree, take her to the vet IMMEDIATLY . We aren't vets, only yours can really find out what is happening .Nothing related to diets can cause deformed feet, no genetics could cause this unless she already had it when she was born, 4-5 years isn't really that old.

Actually, diet can result in deformed feet... It's known as gout. Gout is caused by a high protein diet (usually) or other problems that may result in kidney failure, which causes uric acid to build up on the joints. Arthritis can also do it, but typically not in a young bird (and yes, I consider 4-5 years young!).

Poor diet in general added with improper perches can also lead to what is known as "bumblefoot", where large sores will form on the bottom of the feet.

None of us are vets, so we can't say what's going on with her, we can only highly recommend getting her to an avian vet to find out why she's not doing well, so that she can get the proper care to be on the road to recovery.

I hope it's not bumblefoot. :( I hope they come back and tell us what the vet has said. Gout & arthritis usually do not affect young birds. And I agree, 4/5 years old is not an old bird.

So I did a bit more investigating and found out my girl Sookie does not have deformed feet. One nail was too long and curled in to make the foot look crooked. As for her runny poos, I have been feeding her oatmeal with boiled milk as instructed and she is getting better.
Now I discovered after a bath that she has an Air Bubble and need to know how to burp her or what else I can do.
I am at the Library and have to disconnect in 45 mins. so if anyone can suggest something I would appreciate it!
