i have two cockatiels
got these two not to long ago like a week and they seem to be young yet does anyone know if they are male and female and if so how old do you think they are? and are they molting :grey:

Yes the grey one is starting to molt into his adult colors so that one is a male the pied I believe is a male but I may be wrong on that one....

I was going to say two hens, but I think one might be a male. What's the story on these two? Where did they come from? And did anyone say how old they were???

Just curious as to why you want to know their sex. Since they came from the same shop highly likely they're siblings. I had a pair producing offsprings like them with both being males.

i want to breed them and i got one from a pet store and one from a friend of a friends and they didnt say how old they were but they are not adults yet am sure

yes i do i have done my research and have some family that has done so so i know and if i need help then ill ask and get advise but like i said i have done my research before i have bought any of these guys:grey:

I would recommend asking the pet shop and your friend their ages.

Just making sure your aware before proceeding.....just remember there might be complications when the hen lays her first egg. And other complications before eggs hatch and more complications after eggs hatch. :)

The one with the most yellow is pied, and the one with the least yellow is split pied.

When a cockatiel is a visual pied, you cannot visually sex them by their faces. I have two female pieds who both have clear faces. Both have laid eggs, too!


My light pied hen is actually very similar to the pied cockatiel here. Doesn't mean that the pied 'tiel from the OP is female, too! Or that the tiel is male.
