I believe one of the members on here Monica owns one, she can give you more information of them as I've never gotten into them before.

I've got three, a Rosa hen and two males, one of which was described as a "red". Rosa (by the name of Mrs Bourke) is on 4 eggs but I suspect they're infertile. What would you like to know about Bourke's parrots, F&D?

I have a regular bourke parakeet, she's not a rosy/opaline. She's also not a pet, but that's fine by me! :)

As I said in the other thread.....

I think you need to decide the kind of pet you want.

I've never owned a rosy bourke, but I have had, and still have, a normal bourke. She's not a "pet" though, as she was parent raised and I never bothered trying to tame her. She was an adult when I got her.

Having said that, bourke parakeets do make excellent companions! I *DO NOT* recommend keeping one clipped because they are like finches and they fly to get around. They are quiet, but not normally cuddly. They are more the kind to sit on your shoulder and spend time with you rather than cuddling and receiving scritches.
