I adopted the most amazing parakeet ever.
Her name is Goggles. She came to a locally owned petshop in a large transit box. She was unweaned and crushed by the other birds.
She is one year old and still has "baby eyes" and is pretty much blind.
She had broken wings, broken legs, crushed hips.
She talks a lot and is super cute. She will spend hours playing with her nutriberries before she eats them, she is an efficient flyer, and loves to step up. She will BEG me to let her out of the cage and expresses herself well. She has a large vocabulary too. She kind of has a birdie romance going on with one of my six parakeets i rescued though, and i'm worried she will get too bonded with him and try mating, so i might have to rehome all 6 of them.

awwwww!!!, she is sooooooo cute!!, oh my goodness I think I would have taken her too, you just can't say no to that face, she's is beautiful, I love her pastel colours.
broken wings, legs, and crushed hips....good grief!...is she in any pain??
she doesn't look it at all.
you could match her up with the same sex and have a friend, that could work.

she looks like a male though??

I thought she looked like a male too... I have yet to DNA sex "her" but the last owner claimed its a female. I'll be DNA sexing her through an online avian bank.

She does have some pain and when she doesnt feel well she will stretch a lot. The vet wanted her wings amputated, but she loves to fly and will fly in a big circle and land on my hand. So, she gets to keep her wings. I think that even if I amputated her wings she would still experience pain.

She looks pretty good for such a rough start. I wouldn't amputate her wings! If they work, leave them be. I like the idea of the same sex buddy. I've had mangled birds and the most important thing is to allow them to live as naturally as possible while protecting them from bullies. The only time I've ever amputated a limb from a bird was when the bird chewed the damaged limb to the point of drawing blood.
