Emotional Budgie... i help help!

Hi, I have a serious question, I have had my budgie Gracie for almost a year now and at first she was so loving but still scared of people and she started to get lonely and depressed so I adopted my cockatiel. They get along very well and are best friends and.I.work with.them everyday and play but Gracie wants nothing to.do with people nor me. She's biting me very hard now and wont even sit on my finger for two seconds ... It makes me upset can you give me any advice? do I need to get her a friend of her own kind or something..I think she has PTSD.. I just need help! :greenyellow:

Get yourself a set of leather work gloves, and work on getting her used to you again. Treat it like you are starting with a new bird, and you can even leave the gloves near the cage so she gets used to them when you are not wearing them. The gloves are to help you be less nervous about getting bitten, as she will pick up on any trepidation on your part!

Since they are getting attached to each other, can you use the 'tiel to show Gracie that you are all 3 friends? I have done that with birds in the past. It can be a bit tricky, but it works sometimes. Take the Cockatiel out first, and lavish attention on her where Gracie can see & hear everything. Then, either Gracie will realize that you are okay. Or maybe become jealous & needy of your affection, herself. See how it goes. It does not work all the time. But, it might work here. If she becomes more aggressive, do not continue.

I have tried that numerous times the method still will not work with her, she even bites when my finger is even just resting near her she starts that werid screech parakeets make... I have even tried just seeing if she was jealous and she doesn't care.

The gloves will scare her more, shes so skiddish ive tried everything, other then getting another parakeet but I just.do not understand what to do.and.its not that I'm scared of being bitten, its just the more I try.the more she.gets aggressive and I if I separate the two they get depressed...

If they're bonded just keep up your work with the tiel, especially in front of the budgie. Where one goes, the other will soon follow, and the budgie will get tame by proxy. She will be more bonded to the other bird but will become tame and friendly following example. It's too late for separation now, but your budgie will actually tame much faster will a tame bird around.

You should have her wings clipped, if you haven't done that already.

Also, female budgies have a reputation for becoming aggressive like you report, so you may also need to accept that this is how she is if your work doesn't change things. She can still be a great pet!

I will continue with the training with my tiel, and my budgie is clipped but her feathers are growing out. :greenyellow:

I would just let her become flighted and she'll be joining you & the tiel in no time at all.
