Hello there! I have had my parakeet for a couple of months now and I love him so much! He is chatty, and just an all around sweetheart, but he doesn't really seem like he wants to spend much time with me. He always runs away from my hand, and attempts to fly away (he's clipped. not my choice, though). :whiteblue: I really want to try to break him of it, but don't know where to start.

I bring his cage with me everywhere in the house and leave the door open for him so he can come and go as he pleases.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! :):42::42:

Have you tried bribing him with treats??? Thst works on most of them except a few. Just keep on working with him as he will turn around one day.

I had my parakeet since Sept. and it took over three months before my parakeet started to like me a little bit. It is sooo cute when now he flies to me. Give it time. Also, I gave my parakeet very tiny pieces of broccoli or other food with my hands; I think this accelerated the bonding.

Thanks! I did try bribing him with some millet, but I will try to give him something else. He doesn't seem to mind me petting him at times, then other times all he wants to do is sit on top of my Conure's cage (Sweeney doesn't seem to mind it LOL). Perhaps maybe he is lonely?
