budgie (Cheddar)
My little Cheddar's b-day is coming in 4 days (also my 6th month "Birdiversary") I am thinking of getting him a friend so he cant get bored while I'm at school. He already has awesome toys and a mirror he will spend HOURS with but I think he should have a friend.

Should it be male or female? I read how they go in the same cage and waiting and etc I found a site about it. And SHOULD I do it? And i still want my little Ched to love me a lot still, seriously I rescued him from the PET STORE (dun dun dun!) and he was a litttle not handfed bird who was kinda small.

Now he's a 8in long budgie who i can hand feed. There's some info about how good Cheddar and my relationship (lol) is :) sry for a long post :D

How big is his cage? If there is enough room in the cage, a friend might be good for him, although he may bond more with his new friend than with you. I would add another male if you get one so you don't have to worry about eggs. Also from what happened with my budgies, females can be a little pushy:)

Yes, budgies do much better with some company of their own kind. I've been keeping pairs of budgies for over 30 years, and have never had a problem introducing a second budgie. They're always happy be be around their own kind, especially if you're at school all day he will have someone to talk to and keep him from getting bored. Although I still think you should tame cheddar first, then the other budgie will become friendly through him.

Yes I think Cheddar would love a friend. Budgies are very smart and very playful :) my budgie loves playing with my other birds and they aren't even of the same species!

really?? if u want to, you can get one. my budgie bamboo dusnt miss me while im at skool. if u get another budgie, it will mostly kinda weaken ur bond. but u never know!!! ;)

has he come out of his cage yet?? or is he still learning? i think once he can come out, its gonna make a super strong bond, and then it wont matter much if u get another bird....... well u know ur buddy best, so do what u think will help him!! :):)

I like my pets to have people of their own kind. My galah doesn't seem to mind her own company, but my budgies definitely seem happier with friends.
