Eariler this year, my two budgies (Marigold and Skye) produced 4 lovely chicks. I stupidly only had one pair down for breeding and should have used more but I didn't have any. Here are some pics I have.

Thank you so much or sharing, they're all adorable. Every single one of them!

I see that one of those is the 'green-tailed' budgie. If she's still that young, then you need to keep waiting for the molt. I'm excited for you that you could quite possibly have a new mutation. How neat!

Congrats on the new clutch!

Thank you! Yeah, I took that pic not realising that it had a green tail. If it is a new mutation I'll need to breed more. I was going to sell them until I saw the green tail. Now I'm at least keeping them untill their moult!

Sure sounds like springtime is very busy for them! I love the baby pictures, so precious. And Dad is really handsome, such bright blue! I bet that it's really fun to watch all the courtship displays, with the goofy head bobbing and hopping on the perch. Thanks for sharing!

Budgies are such lovely birds. :greenyellow:

She's a laying machine, wow! Thanks for sharing the news. Kep sharing those pics, please!

May I ask, are you handfeeding them? Or are you letting the parents do it?

SHe laid the second egg off the perch. I put it in the nest box but she chucked it out by instinct. I am not handfeeding them as I have only bred once before. I will if I have to but that would involve taking a baby bird to school and feeding it there. I don't think my teacher would agree. Third egg is due today but I am at school so I can't check. Lexi ( baby budgie from first clutch) keeps finding some way into the breeding cage. I was going to fix it but I will hav to wait until Marigold is settled. I am advirtising the baby budgies for sale. I have put it off for too long. A few people want them so it won't be long until they're all gone.

Well, she laid 4 eggs and is sitting on three as one got chucked out. Her last clutch somehow found a way into the breeding cage and I have left them there as it is large enough to hold 6 budgies and they would have just gone back in. I will fix it after school. No, they can not get out of the cage as it is one cage with a divider in the middle.

Well, it should be fine as long as there's enough room and it is safe like you say.

Congratulations on the new eggs!

Thanks, I can't see if she has laid another today. The babies sleep in the bottom cage but I still need to fix it. I went to a bird sale today and got to pet a blue fronted amazon. I was admiring it and the guy opened the cage and asked me would I like to pet it. I looked at the princess parrots and they are not noisy at all, if you are still thinking of getting one. I think it is a different bird as ours are australian.

Aww, thanks for telling me! I'm glad the Pirncess parrots are as quiet as they're said to be. Could still get one, I'm going to wait awhile though.

Wow, and that's a total of four now? (minus the one that got chucked out)

She's doing great! Make sure you keep cuttlebone in there, it will be especially important for her now; she needs the extra calcium for strong eggshells.
