hi everyone sorry i havn't been on for a long time been busy. Ratzy and i looked in the local pet-shop and there is a budgie in a cage with about 2 other birds. Ratzy and i saw it and were disgusted. it had a really long beak and Ratzy says that it has french moult. ratzy told one of the enployees and ahe acted like she didn't care at all. she said she would like to do something about it but i think that she didn't care at all. it will pass it on to all the other birds if there not sick already and then everyone will think the same as we do"that they are a really bad pet shop and need to be closed down or get better cages and look after there animals better" i mean i think that they should be closed down or get new employees who actually care about the poor things. you could see how sick was just by looking. it wouldn't eat or anything. it was bleeding to! they need bigger cages.it was in the pied section and it was a clearwing. there was also a df spangle and yellow face type 2. tell me what you think of that and please get back to me. if you have any prob with your local pet shop then i'm sure we would like to here about it.

Cheers

Ezza

Yeah, I couldn't help myself from doing that. Honestly!!! It had long flights, french moult, an over grown beak, respiratory disease and who knows what else! Plus it was bleeding heavily! I have printed off a care sheet ( or three ) for them to stick to the cages. I asked them their source and said not to buy off them again. I have posted before about this shop I think. They will not listen to me!

Hi those poor birds..
Go into an old post "Disgusting for a pet shop" read through them all, you will get great advise, whom to contact and what to do.
It sounds like the only difference is that the pet shop here, in South Africa, were prepared to listen, and do the correct thing for the birds.
You mentioned They will not listen to me! ACTION IS LOUDER THAN WORDS

I have printed off some care sheets for them. I'll laminate them tomorrow at school. I read that topic and I posted about this pet shop. All the birds are fed on seed in there. Even the parrots! I don't think that clear wing would have lived this long. If they still don't listen then I can just spread the word that that pet store is not the place to go!

Great idea Ratzy, good on you both for being so active. I have a real problem with pet shops.... I go out of my way to shop at the Pet Barn (not sure if you have them in Vic) they just sell produce.

We saw soooooo many unhealthy animals st the vet hosp that were purchased at pet stores, many owners claiming their pup or kitten were a purebred such and such but were clearly cross breeds. it's a real shame

Check out this organisation you might be interested in. I know it targets dogs & cats but that's a start, I have asked them to include birds as well

The good news is that they listened to me and seperated the sick clearwing. The bad news is that they do not have it under a heat lamp, and it is in the same room as the other birds. The other bad news is my parents don't want me to go into the pet shop any more so I can't give them the care sheets.

I guess that's a start. Could you post the care sheets to them? Pity they aren't in Sydney.
