Blue one of my budgies was having wheezing fits yesterday morning, which is odd because it is normally Daffy.

Took her to the vet and he suspects a respiratory infection. Possibly due to the airsac mite infestation from a few months back. She's on antibiotics today and seems a little better..

To be on the safe side I rewashed everything, changed water bottles and towels again and have her in an improvised hospital cage...

The aquariam I used to use broke last month.. so she's in Porter's travel carrier and I'm hoping it will work alright.

Edit:

I treat my birds for airsac mites every few months just to be on the safe side. I've heard when an infection has occured its hard to get rid of it.. so I treat every four months or so.

Update:

She's doing worse again.

I have her in a quiet warm area, introduced her to the nebuliser for five minutes and then once again cleaned everything including bedding and water.

She's covered and all of the other birds have been given the same treatment.

New liners; freshly washed pillow covers have replaced the usual towels so I can be sure nothing is growing there.

Add-in: She won't drink the spice water, so I added it to her pellets. Everything that normally works isn't.

*Note* I wash the towels once every two days.
I'm terrified for my other birds, what else can I do in this situation?
I've never had a truly sick bird before.. I've lost old birds to old age.. and dealt with Daffies allergies but nothing like this.
Airsac mites.. Respiratory troubles for a day or so.. but not 48 hours of heavy monitoring.
I feel like a mother chicken with one egg.
Another vet visit might be due tomorrow, She was doing such much better earlier today.

I don't want to loose another budgie.. I lost Quay Quay just last year (13 years old.)

Update:
She got a little better, but she's been the same for two days now.
The vet says its hard to tell but; even on antibiotics it might have been too late.

I'm just waiting now, thats all I can do; keeping up with treatments, giving her the spice mixture I use, and a touch of aloe in her water to help with lubrication of her crop.

I'm not sure what is going to happen from here.
At this point I'm resigned and sad.

This is how Quay Quay deteriorated, and its so awful to watch.

Pepsi and sprite, both are American male budgies
I am so sorry:(. Try a small " medicine " cage to limit the movements and help conserve his energy to fight this off. Get a small thermo lamp (the ones farmers use for baby chicks) and hang it above him to help keep his body temp. regulated. If things are looking dim , I would admit him to a avian specialist for overnight so they could look at him better and maybe find better antibiotics. Distance him from the rest as FAR as POSSIBLE .Again I am SO sorry. But don't look at it as his end, budgies can pleasantly surprise us sometimes;):blue2:.

Blue is in a small carrier at the moment, (porter's normal travel cage)
Low to the ground perches, soft towels and mostly fresh food and millet with fresh clean water.

I've been using my snake's heat lamp; with her and all my birds are out of the guest bedroom, much to their disgust.. they miss being able to sleep without being disturbed x.x

At this point I've got my vet on speed dial and if need be will let me drop her off at a moment's notice.

No parasites came back in the tests.. but the infection is wide spread.

I just spent the last hour breaking down the cage that she and Daffy were in, Moved daffy to Porter's sleep cage and am in the process of a deep cleansing soak of the cage.

Poor Daffy is in a cage that is rather small but it is MUCH better than staying in the cage that her 'roomate' was sick in. I've been working nonstop so I didn't have a chance to do that till today.

Normally Blue and Daffy are in the guest bedroom all day.. simply because I'm trying to train Maibac aka 'baby' and daffy is trying to bond with him.

But now I have no choice, she's with the others.

Blue is still the same.

Thanks for the well wishes. I know budgies are little and not the most impressive of the parrot family.. but mine are my babies.

And Blue is the sweetest of the three.

You did not just say that! lol there are loads of budgie lovers who think they are every bit as impressive, if not more so, than the big birds. I'm one. My husband and daughter can keep their parrots (I find them somewhat annoying but funny) while I totally adore my budgies and tiels.

I'm glad to hear Blue is doing better in your other post :)
