A lone budgie hen, soon to have friends and a family.
My male budgie named Cole cannot fly. He is 10 years old, and is kept with a female budgie named Ella. They both weigh 1.1 ounces. This has been going on for about 1 month or two. He also developed defacation problems too. His feces sticks to his feathers sometimes and hardens. I clean it every 2 days if it has feces stuck to his feathers around his vent. How I clean it is by running it under lukewarm water and when it softens I gently rub it off. He seems to enjoy it. But he has also been sitting with his feathers fluffed too. I don't know if he is sick or just old. And is it normal for her eyes not to have pupils after 10 years? Thank you.

These birds sound like they are probably just getting old. If I'm not mistaken, budgies typically live somewhere between 10-15 years, so your little birds are getting up there in age. My moms one amazon who is very old does not fly much anymore because he is arthritic. The poop issue could be similar to how other animals (and people) become incontinent as they age. Not sure what you mean by the female doesn't have pupils, but she may have developed cataracts or be going blind.

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to take these birds to a vet, but nothing jumps out as anything but aging.

Ok. I'll try to give them a great last years. Also I meant that Ella has no iris, not pupils :p
