So, quick explanation:
My baby cockatiel is almost always on me, or near me.
I've had her since the beginning of summer vacation.

However, school starts soon, and I'll be gone a good portion of the day.
What do I do to prepare her?

Thanks for the help.

What's the longest you've been away from your 'tiel? Maybe start by going out for longer periods of time and if it does not know how to entertain itself, you really need to teach it ASAP.....check out youtube, there should be some how-to videos on there.....

Good luck.....

Cockatiels are usually pretty good about entertaining themselves. Set her up with plenty of toys to keep her busy. Foraging toys and shreddable toys are good choices. If she likes music, a radio or tv might make her feel less lonely.

I also suggest buying the Bird Sitter DVD from Parrot University - it not only will help keep your bird entertained but will also help to teach her flock skills, making her a happier, more confident bird. This DVD does NOT replace time with you, or lots of good toys!
