Riley-white faced grey cockatiel (hatch date 6-28-2014) RIP Halloween-pied cockatiel
So apparently Riley and the rest of the clutch had a bad nightfright which caused her to release all her tail feathers so the breeder has stopped covering her cage at night. Which I have no intention of covering her cage when she gets here because I have noticed from personal experience cockatiels tend to have fewer night frights when they are uncovered at night. I will be learning how to hand feed her tomorrow because the breeder believes has gone back to handfeeding so much because she is seeking comfort and handfeeding is source of comfort for her. I intended to do a little handfeeding when I brought her home to help with the bond but now it looks like it will be more than that for her. The breeder sounded like she would be willing to let me bring Riley home tomorrow but the only problem is her cage won't be here til Monday. So she could be coming home as early as Tuesday. I'm excited to bring her home but hopefully she won't have anymore night frights. She had one a couple nights before I met her (haven't been able to see her since but will be tomorrow) that caused her to break a blood feather that the breeders had to pull out. Riley's cage will be in the will be in the living room and I always leave the laundry room light on so I can see when I use the bathroom at night and not have to turn on the bath room light and with the way the house is set up it will be able to double as a night light for her.:grey::grey::grey:
