Hey everyone,
so i went to the pet shop on monday & they didnt have a indian ringneck!! :O, they said they wont have one for another 6 months!! so i saw a lovely red rumped parakeet, only 8 weeks old, so i bought him, he is beautiful, he is semi tame & loves to whistle all day!! :D :D, he is still abit nervous of loud sounds or if we put our hands in the cage, but he does sit on your finger or hand & he will let you stroke him, at times! :p, he is a lovely character, hopefully, i will get another one, soon, for company!! :D, what do you think of him?? i have named him kiwi! what colour is he??
thanks guys

Wow he looks amazing! We occasionally see wild ones in the park across the road here in oz - they seem to be very shy so they are hard to spot. They truly are beautiful though.

I can only find lists of mutations but no matching images, so not exactly sure what colour he is. He is definitely not a wild (normal) mutation.

WOW. Good looking keet you got there. It's pretty amazing that you got it. And as Ben said, his color is not familiar to me with the list of color mutations i know.

No problems.

The photo in the link was definitely taken with a flash (you can see the sharp shadow). This may have highlighted the redish/brown colour in the eye than many birds have, just the same way we get 'red eye' in photos - you just cant see it in normal light. Also, going by the feather colouring and beak colouring, I would say this bird is much older than yours, which might explain the richer deeper colours. I also noticed it has a touch of blue on its shoulders, which Kiwi doesn't have so yea. Maybe it will come in time, or maybe kiwi is a different type of lutino lime. It would be interesting to find out though, does the pet shop where you bought him know what he is?
