there is a possibility i will get a cockatiel when the time is right to get a bird, would it be ok to have 2 males?

When you get the new one, bring along the old one and let it choose... it will be more safe.

yes two males should be ok. as long as there's several food dishes and water bowls for them to choose as their own so they don't fight or bicker over the same one. but beware, if you plan to socialize and interact with the birds, it probably won't happen. start with one first, tame it, because best friends with him. then get another, make sure they're in separate cages, do the same thing you did with the first one. then when the time is right, start having them interact outside the cage. let them choose which cage to use (one will visit the other).

Leomacaw is correct. The greatest majority of tiels will get along with all other tiels (I would say 99.99% of them) because they are much more flock oriented than lovebirds, for example, who are also social but more pair oriented. But there are birds that don't get along and even though they won't fight (they never do as long as they are not hormonal and they both want the same female -or owner), they won't interact and, as the main benefit of having two birds is for them to have somebody of their own, it just won't do.

Having two males in the same cage does not cause any issues, unless like Birdamor mentioned, there is competition for a mate.

I actually have two male cockatiels in the same cage today. They interact just fine, with the exception of a few instances. Sometimes they do get into little fights, but if I ignore them they'll immediately stop (sometimes they actually fight to get my attention).
