So I obviously don't allow this behavior. I'm looking for ideals to prevent it. II'm thinking about removing the trim and caulking the area. Then maybe putting a chewtoy tthere. In the mean time what's the best way to discourage this.

Soon to add a baby sun conure!
I'd love any suggestions! My parakeet has decided the window trim makes a MUCH nicer chew toy than anything I've provided.

The one thing that helped was moving his cage across the room, away from the window. He'll still chew if he ends up on the windowsill, but he tends to hang out on his cage or my shoulder most of the time, so that one change has helped a bit.

I gave them a new play set up and perch. Those are tension curtain rods. It seems to help.

Great idea! My budgie happily ignores chew toys too.
