Hi guys! Long time no talk!! Been far too busy to keep up with the forum's!! :( I hope everyone is well!!!

Since we last spoke, I now have four birds ;) Audrey, and three budgies. So I have Arty and Astro, both almost two years old. I recently brought another little baby, Ali. She would only just be hitting the four months old stage now. Probably not even four months. Her cere is quite brown though she still has the little black baby eyes. Well I just walked in to find my adult budgie mating with her. :| I stopped them, but she kept going back for more. She's too young ahhhhh! They don't have any kind of nesting areas in their cage as I wanted to prevent any breeding. I am freaking out though, should I separate them? I am worried if I separate them that Ali will be really lonely. :( As she gets on with the other two really well.

You may not have a choice. 4 months is way too young. I would give herextra calcium in ccase she lays an egg. I dont know if she is even old enough for that. Definitely don't allow mating.

My female is 9 months and I am not going to allow mating. I heard 1 or 2 years first. I might then but I don't know.

How about putting Ali in a cage right next to the other guys so she won't get lonely, but won't be able to be physical with them either?

I don't know first hand, but I was told by several people that if there is no nest box or anywhere dark to hide, they will mate, but will not produce eggs. Hopefully that's true! Good luck.

Thankyou for the responses so far. I could have the cages together for a little while I guess, its just the only second cage I have at the moment is just a travel cage so its pretty small. :'( The three budgies live in a huge cage filled with toys & perches everywhere. So suck it up and move her there for a little while? :( Or let them be and try to separate whenever I see them up to no good? There isn't a nest box, no where dark to hide, no where in the cage that could be a good "egg laying spot". Also as she is a baby, she is still only eating leafy greens at this point and no other goodies. In fact she has only just started eating the leafy greens because of the other two. What is good thats kind of leafy with calcium? :(
