Well hello, we are a farm of multiple poultry and fowl until a few days ago when this little blue Budgie showed up in my juvenile Turkey pen. It stayed there for a few days as we were unsuccessful in catching it. Then it was gone only to appear in my big guinea house. I thought I had it captured there but alas, it found an escape route so last night, I noticed it bed down for the night under an over hang on one of my growout pens. I went back out with a pillowcase with a wire looped inside making a net of sorts but it wasn't there! I searched as much as I could in the dark with just the glow from the heat lamp in the chick pen but couldn't find it until I looked at the little guinea that was roosting on top of the same pen and on closer inspection, the little Budgie had crawled underneath the guinea for warmth. It didn't take much to pluck it out and it didn't move in my hand so got a cage inside and covered it up along with some items that I had already purchased to try and catch it.
I believe it is a young female. It has faint barring on the head but does have an eye ring. Would like to be sure as I do want to get her a friend if we can't find where she came from since they are such social little buggers but have read that 2 females are too territorial and that 2 males or one of each are the best bet.
Your expert advice would be much appreciated and thanks.
