I know it's 30 to 90 days...at least that is what the general consensus is and the vet said to keep them separate for at least 30 days. They have been quarantined for almost 7 weeks now. I am getting anxious to bring them out and I know they will get alot more out of cage time and interaction when that happens. However, I do not want to jump the gun and put my flock at risk. Fred looks great! His feathers look like velvet and are so soft! Ginger still looks rough, but has improved. She is getting a couple more tail feathers and I do see a couple pin feathers at the side of her neck, but none on the back yet. The two wounds/scabs that were on her wings are now healed. They both eat/drink and their poops are normal.

What would you guys do??

Leanna, since Fred and Ginger have had physical exams by a vet and been quarantined for around 45 days, I would feel safe ending the quarantine period, JMHO.

I think that if its been at least 30 days and they have both been thoroughly examined by a vet - you should be fine.

Thank you for your responses! I just needed reassurance I think. I don't "think" they (well, she) are sick...I just think she has been abused/neglected. I will bring them out and see how they do. I'm a little worried that Ginger may be too nervous out in the main part of the house...we shall see... Thanks again!

Update...I started bringing them out into the living room with me to see how they would do. They were startled at first with all the movement and noises (they've never been out of the bedroom). The first night I brought them out, I brought them together, thinking Ginger might be too nervous if I removed Fred and left her. That didn't turn out so well:cool:. I should of started one at a time, which is what I have been doing since then;). Too much to control with them both out and nervous. Cisco was also out and he gets nervous about noises. I was sitting on the couch with Fred and Ginger, Cisco on his play gym, something spooked Fred, which spooked Ginger, which spooked Cisco. Fred flew to the other couch, Ginger jumped off me onto the couch, Cisco flying circles around the room. I scooped Ginger up, went and got Fred, and Cisco, in Cisco style, crash landed on my shoulder and told me off.

Since then, I bring them out one at a time and neither one of them cares that the other one is not there. I don't know what that woman was talking about when she said if Ginger wasn't there Fred was constantly yelling??? Anyway, all's good and they are calming down. Ginger will sit on me endlessly. Cisco has come over while they are on me and has been a very good boy, which I thought he would. We will probably move the cages out of the bedroom within the next week and see how it goes.

Fred and Ginger are doing great! I'm not at all surprised to see them thrive in your care, Leanna. Things will just get better and better. Fred and Ginger have such a sweet success story, thanks to you. I love the updates.

Thank you Allee!! All of my fids should be able to be out at the same time now with the exception of my Sassy girl. I don't know if I will ever trust her with the little ones. I tell her all the time if she wasn't a bully bird she could come out more and play, but you know teenagers...they know it all and their mommy's know nothing.. blah blah blah:09:
