Taming method that worked for me

Two parakeets.
I'm no parakeet expert, but on June 18th I will have had parakeets for three years!
While my parakeets aren't completely tame, Mika and Bogi like to perch on my arm, eat from my hand, hear me speak, and play with my hair. It was pretty easy to get them both to like having my company.

I tried the only one parakeet rule once, but Mika got very depressed being alone and didn't want me as a "mate", and if it does work they are a lot more demanding.
So, I got Bogi and began starting over with Mika. Basically, all I did was talk to him often, and sing to him every once and a while. Once I started letting them out nearly all day and started feeding them fruits and vegetables, Mika liked me a lot more. He started enjoying hanging out on my arm and stuff, and he has just started getting in my bed when I read so he can hang around with me. Bogi is still a little distant, but I haven't even had him for a year yet.

Also, I have never clipped their wings! Bogi has had his wings clipped once by his past owner, but other than that they could always fly everywhere, and have never gotten into things they shouldn't. I cover the windows and clean up the room, then let them out. Mika and Bogi love flying around the room together, but they spend most of their time on their large wooden perch or the ground.

So far the mostly plant diet has worked out great for them both! Bogi loves melon, and Mika loves carrots. I can sneak in some broccoli and banana into his grated carrots every once in a while though.
