Angry Help me please!! Taming.

Hello this is my first post on this forum.

I need help with taming my birds.

Ive got 3 birds, Cockatiel, budgie and rosella. I got them back in 2011.
The problem is, now is 2016 and i havent made any contact with them, they are wild, i just refill them water and food every day thats it.

I wanna tame them but i dont know how, i need help with that. Otherwise im gonna set them free.

Also, dont reccomend me any books for taming birds or something like that... I dont have time for books. (U probably wonder "he wanna tame his birds but dont have time to read a book, how come he got time for birds?") welll i dont give a s#it about stupid books.

Re: Help me please!! Taming.

Please don't set them free. Rehome them to someone before you set them free.
Where about's are their cages? How did you get them? Are they hand reared?

Step one: Have them in a place where they can watch you to their hearts content and learn to trust you. Have you done that yet?

Thanks for the quick reply,

1. I have 2 cages, both are big enough for them. Cages are almost always open.
2. I bought them in a pet shop store (i know its a bad thing but at that time i didnt know much about parrots).
3.They are not hand reared.

They cant watch me, i cant place their cages in my room because they make so much mess, also when i try to touch them they are so stressed that they poop.

After 1hr getting closer to budgie he gets used to my finger/hand. But after 15 mins of me being away he forgets who i am and gets scared again.

Well, my goodness! It's always a pleasure to meet a brand new member, especially when they threaten to set birds free in their very first post!

I beg you, please do not set these birds free, their chances of surviving are nonexistent.

I won't bother to ask if books are all you could care less about, I won't ask what you are doing with three birds you've had no interest in for the past several years. I will strongly suggest you take the time to find an appropriate home for the birds.

Re: Help me please!! Taming.

You don't start off asking for advise by pissing people off. Saying you will set them free was just asking for people to hate you. If you take that attitude with training you will not go far.

Re: Help me please!! Taming.

Sit next to their cages for 1 hr every day, all the while feeding them their favorite treats. Talk to them. Do this for 3 weeks, EVERY day, same time every day. I will bet you 10 bucks they will like you much more and it will be time to move to the next step. Come on, you can do it!!
