Hi I have a pair of spreed parakeets (budgies ) they haven't started breeding I am worried about them so I asked a friend he said that they got fat and they didn't breed anymore so I was wondering if there is any thing that can be done so that they reduce fats and back to normal they look like adults and I have bought them about 6 months ago. I guess they are over an year of age because when I bought them they look like adults at that time. Female got swallowing between her legs.
Hoping for quick reply. :yellow2:

unclear what this is? Pics would be useful.

Basically it is the same with any bird change their diet and ensure they get plenty of exercise. Be useful if you specify what you have been feeding them. A check over by an AV would probably be useful IMO to check they are Ok ie just overweight and no other issues there. Regarding your female think she should def go to AV.

Did you mean swelling? She could have an egg.

Invest in a gram scale and weigh them daily, feed more fruits and veggies. But definitely worth a vet visit anyway for a wellness check!

They lay eggs pretty quickly, usually only a few days later, and then one every other day. I would still take her to the vet to confirm, and to check of any potential difficulties she might have. If she's young, egg binding can happen, especially if it's the first time she's laid.
